Candidates are required to attend three classroom days, which focuses on teaching emergency lifesaving skills and how to deal with non-life-threatening situations. The classroom course is assessed through a role-play scenario.
The Level 3 First Aid at Work Course is fast-paced and informative in which the following topics will be covered:
- Roles and responsibilities of the First Aider
- Accident reporting procedures
- First aid kits
- Primary Survey (DRABCD)
- Assessing for injuries
- CPR for adults, children and babies
It is recommended that low-risk businesses who are responsible for over 100 people should have at least one person certified in first aid at work. Within high-risk industries, all first aiders should complete this course.
During and at the end of the course there will be formal assessments; if successful the candidates will receive a nationally recognised Level 3 First Aid at Work electronic certificate. This fully meets HSE requirements, and the latest guidelines from the resuscitation council. The certificate is valid for 3 years, it is recommended that refresher training is completed annually.
