This 2-day course covers everything you need to know about helping a sick, injured or ill child, prior to the arrival of the emergency services.
The Paediatric First Aid course meets the requirements of OFSTED and therefore is suitable for teachers to complete their registrations. It complies with the latest guidelines from the Early Years Foundation.
The course involves teaching practical skills required to save the life of an infant or child in the event of an emergency. Our instructor will demonstrate and help you gain the confidence to use these skills should the need arise.
Through the use of practicals and theory, you will learn about the following subjects and many more:
- Checking for signs of breathing
- Assessment of injuries
- Recovery position
- Infant and child resuscitation (CPR)
- Bleeds and shock management
- Childhood illnesses
The Paediatric First Aid (12 hr) Course is designed for those who work full time with infants and children. This includes; Childminders, primary school teachers, sports coaches etc.
The shorter Paediatric First Aid (6 Hours) Qualification is suitable for Nannies and Babysitters and meets the requirements of the Voluntary Ofsted Childcare Register.
The Paediatric First Aid certificate is awarded once the theory and practical modules are assessed and completed. The certification is valid for 3 years, refreshers are recommended annually.
